5 Back-To-School Carpooling Tips

1)  Meet with your fellow carpoolers. Get to know your fellow carpoolers to gauge how responsible of a driver they are. Use that time to establish some ground rules in terms of pick-up and drop-off times so everyone is on the same page.

2)  Make sure all passengers are buckled-up. Before driving away, make sure all adults and children in the car have a fastened seatbelt. Never let kids share a seatbelt and never transport children in the cargo area of a pickup truck, station wagon, or van.

3)  Keep your eyes peeled. Avoid situations where you’ll have to back up in areas where young children are walking or playing. Also, make sure children get into their house once you drop them off before driving away. Always pay attention to your surroundings in the car.

4)  Don’t play parent in the car. When you are driving carpool, your most important responsibility is driving. When children begin acting out, don’t try and solve behavior problems while driving. If the problem is affecting your driving, pull the vehicle over at a safe place to deal with the issue.

5)  Pay attention to school guidelines on carpool lines. All schools have different systems in place to manage their carpool lines. Be observant of your school’s system and abide by their speed limit and drop-off and pick-up locations and times.

Top 3 Road Trip Snacks

Long road trips can work up a large appetite! That's why it is important to keep plenty of snacks on hand while driving long distances. Below are our top 3 road trip snack foods.

 1. Trail Mix - With a hearty mix of nuts and raisins and candy, trail mix has a little bit of everything! This snack keeps you satisfied until you can pull off into town for a roadside meal.

  2. Chips/Crackers - Everybody loves snacks with a bit of crunch! Chips and crackers can fill your belly until dinner time. Just be sure to have napkins handy to catch those pesky crumbs.

3. Fruit/Veggies - If you're looking for a healthy snack, fruits and vegetables are the way to go! You can slice fruit, such as apples, and place in a plastic sandwich bag or opt for dried varieties of fruit. Veggies, such as carrots or cauliflower, can be kept in a Tupperware container. Drizzle ranch dressing from a packet on them to make them extra flavorful.

Dad Knows Best–Does His Cadillac Show It?

As the years go on, it seems to get increasingly clear that your dad was right about… nearly everything.  Does the car in his driveway reflect his wisdom?  Whether your dad can most likely be found tinkering in the garage or screaming at the football game on TV, there’s a Cadillac  that’s right for him.  Which  Caddy fits your Daddy?

Remember that Father’s Day is on June 15th– so bring him in for a test drive!

Tough Dad: SRX Crossover

If you grew up hearing your dad say, “Oh, it won’t kill you!” whenever he heard you complain, he needs a Cadillac that matches his rough-and-tumble personality.  A Cadillac that does whatever it takes to get the job done is in order.  One that isn’t afraid to get a little dirty.

Trendy Dad: Escalade
Growing up, you were never embarrassed by your dad’s clothes, music, or fashion taste.  Why?  It was always hip!  If you’re lucky enough to have one of those “cool dads,” he needs the keys to a Cadillac that’s just as relevant as his dance moves.  Why not go with an iconic classic?

The Dad That Does It All: CTS Sport Wagon

From soccer practice to road trips, your dad’s got it all taken care of.  He’s the kind of dad that always got you to your recital on time, plus offered all of your friends a ride home afterwards.  He deserves a Cadillac that’s reliable, versatile, and up for anything.

Environmentally-Conscious Dad: ELR
Even though he remembers how things were “back in his day,” your dad knows the importance of planning for the future.  He recycles, carpools to work, and brings his own reusable bags to the grocery store.  He belongs with an ELR because it reflects his good taste at no cost to the environment– and very little to his wallet.

Drive-In Movies: A Jersey Tradition!

Did you know that the first drive in theater was built in Camden, New Jersey? On June 6th, 1933 the "doors" opened to the theater and the rest was history! Celebrate this day by watching a movie in your car. Even if you can't get to a drive-in theater, you can still get creative! Now the question is, will you be watching the evil Maleficent, or the action packed X-Men?

Work hard instead of smart. Your car will follow suit.

Summer just got a whole lot cooler. If you always follow these two rules, you’ll always avoid sweating the small stuff.

ALWAYS avoid using your AC for as long as possible. It might be a little uncomfortable, but if you can deal with cracking the windows, it’s a small effort that will save you big down the road. Hunt for underground parking, shade trees, and ALWAYS be sure you’re equipped with a sunshade just in case.

Once you’ve reached that too-hot-to-handle part of summer and begin using the AC in your car, ALWAYS use recirculation mode! You should activate recirculation as soon as you can feel the AC start pumping out cool air. This causes the AC system to recycle the cool air that’s already in the car instead of cooling new hot air from outside. Why make your car work double-time?

Cadillac’s CTS-V Coupe will go out with a sinister bang

Must all good things come to an end? We wish it wasn’t so, but Cadillac’s CTS-V Coupe is on its final lap of production. As sad as we are to see it go, we have to admit that watching it leave will be a pleasure.  Here’s why:

You won’t give up these great features…
-6.2 – liter engine
-V8 with 556 horsepower
-GM’s Magnetic Ride Control

…to get this new sinister feel:
- “V” grille with dark finish, red brake calipers, satin graphite wheels
-Steering wheel and shifter knob decked out in suede
-Ebony and red contrasting interior accented with Midnight Sapele wood trim.

It won’t be released for about a year, but we’re already counting down the days!  Will you be one of the 500 lucky owners?

Seeing red or feeling blue: What does your Caddy color say about you?

Red: Outgoing and High Energy
There’s something about the color red that just screams “unstoppable.” It is a dynamic, bold, and sensual color that really sets you apart from the rest. If you like to be center stage with all eyes on you, get behind the wheel of a spicy red hot Caddy!
Black: Classic and Elegant
Black is truly a timeless color. Not only is it simple and versatile, it is an unmistakable symbol of power. If you are the owner of a black Cadillac, you probably have very classy taste in clothing and appreciate the finer things in life.
Blue: Trustworthy, Calm, and Patient
Much like the ocean on a bright sunny day, blue Cadillac owners tend to be cool and calm. People who drive blue cars are likely to be trustworthy, sensitive, and caring. They are excellent life-long friends that usually squash arguments instead of starting them.
White: Direct, Organized, and Clean
Those who own white cars tend to be a bit high maintenance.  Generally, if you drive a white vehicle you probably insist upon keeping your office space, home, and vehicle in pristine condition. White isn’t able to camouflage very much when it comes to mud and dust, so your motto is “cleanliness is next to godliness.”

The newest update for Google Maps just became available and we have to say, we're impressed!  Here's a few improvements you'll notice when you hit the road:

-Never miss another exit. Updates for the app include even more detailed directions, even down to which lane you should be in before your next move.

-Weigh your options.  If you frequently use services like Uber, this update allows you to compare your route with public transportation, walking, biking, etc.

Myth: You get more for your money when you fill your gas tank in the morning.

Have you ever heard that if you fill your gas tank in the morning, you will get more for your money? It's a myth! This is because it is cooler in the morning, so people think that if you fill up in the morning, gas will be denser. But, gas is stored underground which means that the temperature is controlled, no matter what time you fill up!
